OUR MISSION
The mission of the Office of Transfer Articulation is to provide prospective and currently enrolled students with the most accurate information regarding course articulations from academic institutions related to N.C. A&T’s course offerings. Transfer credits:

AWARDING TRANSFER CREDIT
A minimum grade of “C” is required for all transferable coursework.  Grades of “C-“and below are not transferable.  Remedial, developmental, and courses where grades of “P/F” were earned will not be considered for transfer.  Credit hours are transferable to N.C. A&T, not grades.  Therefore, grades for academic courses transferred will not be included in the overall Grade Point Average of a student.
Course credit may be awarded Advanced Placement (AP), Cambridge International, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) Program.

REGIONAL ACCREDITING AGENCIES
Transfer Credits are accepted only from institutions of higher education that are regionally accredited.  Regionally accredited agencies are as follows: 

• Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
• Middle States Association of College and Schools, Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
• New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. Commission on Institutions of Higher Learning (NEASC-CHE)
• Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
• Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC)
• Western Association of Schools and College, Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities(WASC-SCUC)
• Western Association of Schools and College, Accrediting Commission for Community Colleges and Junior Colleges (WASC-ACCJC)

 
N.C. COMPREHENSIVE ARTICULATION AGREEMENT (CAA)
The University of North Carolina and the North Carolina Community College System have designed the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA).  The CAA is a state-wide agreement governing the transfer of credits between NC Community colleges and NC public universities to facilitate the transfer of courses to most four-year colleges/universities in North Carolina. 
To be eligible for transfer credits under the CAA, the transfer student must have successfully completed a course designated as transferable or graduate with an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree.  N.C. A&T accepts credits under the guidelines of the NC CAA.
The NC CAA enables North Carolina community college students who complete the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree prior to transferring to a constituent University of North Carolina institution will have fulfilled the general education requirements.  Transfer students will be considered to have satisfied the UNC Minimum Course Requirements (MCR).
An Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree is not covered under the CAA and courses will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. 
Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degrees earned from out-of-state   institutions are not covered under the CAA and will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS
Simply stated Articulation Agreements deal with how courses transfer from one college to another. N.C A&T maintains such agreements with many community colleges, whereby students complete an associate degree, transfer to A&T, and complete a bachelor’s degree without experiencing a delay or duplication of coursework.

TRANSFER CREDIT ARTICULATION TOOL
The Transfer Credit Articulation Tool can be used to see how coursework from other colleges and universities transfer to N.C. A&T.    The list of schools is not comprehensive; we are continually updating with more courses and institutions.  Please be aware that the information provided is only a guide and should be considered unofficial.

BACCALAUREATE DEGREE PATHWAYS
Baccalaureate Degree Pathways (BDP) provide a smooth transition to senior institutions for students planning to complete a baccalaureate degree.

Permission to Take Courses at Another Institution

Students who wish to take courses at another institution and transfer the credit to N.C. A&T must obtain prior approval from their department on the Permission Form.   

Only the credit hours will transfer and not the grade(s) earned.  Grades of pass or fail (P/F) are not accepted in transfer.  Completed forms should be emailed to articulation@ncat.edu.
