Nakia Carson

In May 2016, Nakia Carson graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in graphic communications systems with a concentration in computer-aided drafting and design from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

As a civil/structural discipline engineering technician, Carson collaborates with engineers and designers to develop drawing packages for electrical substations and switchyards up to and including 345 kV. In her three years of professional experience, she has produced and contributed to technical drawings that have and will be used to construct and upgrade several locations in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Connecticut and Washington, D.C.

Carson considers it a privilege to have been involved with the NC A&T Graphic Design Technology Advisory Board as the student representative her senior year and having served for three years as an alumna. Additionally, she's had the distinct honor of fulfilling the role of chairperson of the Advisory Board. Serving on the advisory board has afforded her the platform to speak with faculty and students through board meetings, discussion panels, information sessions and career expos. She is passionate about using her undergraduate and corporate experiences to provide leadership and valuable information to students that will aid them in both their academic and professional career pursuits. She always uses the opportunity to encourage students to keep learning and keep going no matter their present circumstances or challenges.
