The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest academic unit at North Carolina A&T. Virtually every student at the university passes through one of our six departments, no matter what their major, because the knowledge and coursework our college provides form the heart of a well-rounded education.

If you choose to major in one of our degree programs, you will be well prepared to begin a career in a wide variety of creative and important pursuits. Through excellent instruction, internships, study abroad programs and service-learning opportunities, you will hone your critical thinking skills, engage in contemporary research and develop creative problem-solving abilities. Our graduates are recruited by research institutions, businesses and government agencies. Many continue their studies at some of the most prestigious graduate schools in the country.

Essentially every Aggie passes through one of six departments housed in the College of Arts, Humanities and Socially Sciences (CAHSS) prior to graduation, making it the most influential academic unit at North Carolina A&T State University.

CAHSS faculty and staff members ensure students receive a well-rounded education, preparing them to be productive and informed global citizens, as well as influential leaders in their respective fields.

The college was recognized recently as the largest producer in the nation of Black graduates in both journalism and liberal arts. Our Department of Criminal Justice continues to attract student interest as more desire to make a difference in the field.

CAHSS is committed to interdisciplinary instruction and enlightenment. The college established an annual STEAM Lecture Series focuses on engaging audiences interested in the integration of science, technology, engineering, math, arts and humanities. The most recent lecture featured New York Times best-selling author Margot Lee Shetterly, author of the thought-provoking book, “Hidden Figures,” which inspired the movie by the same name.
