Dr. Carolyn W. Meyers is the first woman named as vice chancellor of academic affairs.

The School of Agriculture is renamed School of Agriculture and Environmental and Allied Sciences.

Dr. Carolyn W. Meyers is named the first provost of the university.

Yaxi Shen is the first woman to earn a PhD degree at A&T (mechanical engineering).

February 1
Lewis A. Brandon, III, alumnus and civil rights activist, is awarded the first North Carolina A&T State University Medal for Human Rights.

February 5
The ribbon cutting ceremony is held for the new 400 Obermeyer St. Parking Lot located in the heart of campus on Obermeyer and Laurel Streets.

August 10
The dedication ceremony of the Aggie Suites residence hall held. Five wings in the 220,000 sq.ft. building were named in honor of members of the Board of Directors:

The monument honoring the Greensboro Four is unveiled. James Barnhill, a faculty member in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, sculpted the statue. The monument is located in front of the James B. Dudley Building.

March 17
The A&T Tennis Complex is officially dedicated. The complex is located on the southeast side of campus on East Market Street.
2003
March 31
A&T is awarded a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

September 4
The Oaks Faculty and Staff Club opens for use. The Oaks is the former home of A&T's presidents and chancellors.

September 23
North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro announce the creation of a Joint Millennial Campus. The Greensboro Center for Innovative Development, its official name, have north and south campuses that focus on regional economic development.

October 16
A&T's new logo is unveiled in a ceremony at Aggie Stadium. The new logo features the head of A&T's mascot with spiked chain and the words NC A&T Aggies around it. Other images unveiled included a new interlocking A&T letter mark, Baby Aggie youth mark and various word marks.

April 14
Quiester Craig Hall is dedicated. The School of Business and Economics side of the General Classroom Building is named for Dr. Quiester Craig, the dean of the School of Business and Economics since 1972.

May 7
Progress, a sculpture by artist Richard Hunt, is unveiled in the plaza of the General Classroom Building. A common theme of Mr. Hunt's demonstrated in his creations is freedom and the unique fusion of the spiritual and the material.

August 17
Pride Hall is dedicated. The $12 million facility, financed through A&T's University Foundation, houses 439 students. The name of the residence hall is based on the popular Aggie Pride slogan. A&T student Latoya Thomas and employees Gwen Evans, Joycelyn Maybury, Edna Ragins and Tahira Nyabinghi are credited with naming the building in a contest.

The College of Arts and Sciences Building dedication is held in the General Classroom Building courtyard, followed by an alumni reunion cultural celebration.

A&T qualifies for the doctoral/research intensive category established by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

April 8
The Aggie Softball Complex is dedicated; the actual opening of the complex was on Feb. 18.

The Aggie men's baseball team won its first MEAC regular season title against Coppin State.

The Chancellor's Medallion is created by Chancellor James C. Renick to signify academic excellence, achievement and service.

DeLores "Dee" Todd is named the first woman athletics director.

The Alumni-Foundation Event Center is dedicated.

Dr. Lloyd V. Hackley is named interim deputy chancellor.

Dr. Stanley F. Battle, President of Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, is named the 11th chancellor.

The Lewis and Elizabeth Dowdy Scholars Program is announced, an initiative to begin in fall 2008 to offer incoming freshmen scholarships based on academic performance.

December 15
Seydou Niandou, a native of the Republic of Niger, graduates as the first PhD in Energy and Environmental Studies.

The four buildings comprising the Aggie Village residence hall complex were named for each of the A&T Four: Jibreel Khazan (formerly Ezell Blair, Jr.), Franklin McCain, Joseph McNeil, and the late David Richmond.

Willie Ernest Grimes, a freshman at A&T who was shot on campus and succumbed on May 22, 1969, is posthumously awarded the Bachelor of Science. Accepting the degree was Willie Grimes' mother, Mrs. Ella Grimes, who was accompanied by her son, George Grimes.

The School of Business and Economics' Financial Trading Room, a classroom where students can simulate trading analyses, opens on the second floor of Craig Hall

The Aggie Fitness and Wellness Center, located at the corner of Bluford Street and Benbow Road, opens.
2009
May 22
Dr. Harold L. Martin, Sr. is elected as the 12th chancellor; he began his duties on June 8.
