International Students
The Office of International Affairs (OlA) provides new international student orientation in both the fall and spring semesters of each academic year. The sessions are set before classes begin so that new students will feel more comfortable moving about the campus and gaining access to the information they need to begin their program of study and live in their new academic and social communities.
The Orientation session is mandatory for new international students in F and J status because critical information regarding academic standing requirements, immigration regulations and requirements, U.S. tax regulations/treaties, health insurance instructions, and OlA programs and services is discussed. Further, students who have not yet checked into the OIA can schedule an appointment to complete the mandatory check-in process. New students will also be informed of existing and updated information regarding eligibility to receive work authorization and social security number approval and engage socially with members of the International Student Association (ISA).
