North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) associate professor Roberta Claro da Silva, Ph.D., has been awarded a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant to create the first academic course about chocolate at a historically Black college and university.

The Uplifting Black and Brown Lactation Success Conference will take place Thursday, Aug. 8, and Friday, Aug. 9 at the N.C. A&T University Farm Pavilion. An estimated 180 lactation professionals, maternal health practitioners and others involved in the breastfeeding and birthworks communities across North Carolina and the United States are expected to attend.

A 2023 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State graduate is helping Belk’s Crown & Ivy clothing line celebrate its 10th anniversary this spring with a new line of women’s wear available online and in stores. “Jewel Moser x Crown & Ivy,” a limited-edition collection designed by Jewel Moser, an alumna of N.C. A&T’s fashion merchandising and design (FMD) program, launched March 11.

In June 2022, fashion merchandising and design major Mya Harris flew to Philadelphia to attend a 10-week internship with apparel company Urban Outfitters. This fall, the result of that experience – a line of clothing paying tribute to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s cultural history – hit the shelves.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s youngest learners have a good reason to come to school with a smile this winter: the Child Development Laboratory, the campus’s early childhood educational facility, has received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, an organization that promotes high-quality learning through age 8.

Fashion merchandising and design students and faculty at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University have a new reason to dress up and celebrate. For a second year, the program has received the top award of $100,000 from clothier Gap Inc. and fashion industry nonprofit ICON 360.

Fourth-year students in North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s fashion merchandising and design program will get the professional advice and build the connections they need to succeed in the luxury fashion world through a historic year-long collaboration between the program, fashion agency Harlem’s Fashion Row and luxury-goods conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy.

A team from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been awarded a four-year, $2.3 million grant from the American Heart Association to study ways to improve outcomes among women who are more likely to experience pregnancy complications because of poor heart health.
