Accreditation
The Industrial and Systems Engineering (B.S.) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, (http://www.abet.org) under the General Criteria, the Industrial Engineering program criteria and the Systems Engineering program Criteria.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEOs are aligned with University, College, and Departmental vision, mission, and values and are based on the needs of our constituencies. Within a few years of graduation, alumni of the ISE program will be transforming their organizations and communities by:
- Improving design, efficiency, quality, and resiliency of systems, products and processes through application of technical knowledge and business acumen.
- Integrating complex system design, production, usability, operational and costing processes using analytical and computational tools.
- Leading and collaborating on multidisciplinary, diverse, and inclusive teams to produce positive change.
- Advancing the profession of industrial and systems engineering and its application to public well-being.
- Adapting to societal needs and technological innovation by engaging in continuous learning which might include graduate studies.
Student Outcomes (SOs)
SOs are measured in terms of the knowledge and skills the graduates of the BSISE program are expected to demonstrate at graduation. The ISE student outcomes are:
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics;
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors;
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences;
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts;
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives;
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions; and
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
