John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences Message From The Chair
Hello and Welcome to the North Carolina A & T University’s Department of Kinesiology!
Our Kinesiology Department is one of the largest departments on campus with more than 700 students.
The Kinesiology faculty possess a wide depth of knowledge in areas such as physical therapy, exercise science, adaptive physical education, sport management, recreation and leisure studies, immunology, health and wellness, nutrition and community health.
We currently offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Kinesiology with two concentrations: Exercise Science and Recreation Sport Management. With this degree, students are prepared students to pursue entry level positions within the sport, rehabilitation, recreation and healthcare fields.
The Kinesiology degree also prepares students who desire to pursue advanced graduate degrees in disciplines such as athletic training, physical therapy, sport management, public health, therapy, recreation and leisure studies and more.
Recent developments in our department include:
- The establishment of three new lab spaces designed to give our students more “hands-on” clinical experiences.
- Revision of our previous Kinesiology curriculum that will strengthen the sport, recreation and exercise science knowledge base for our majors.
- The Kinesiology majors club “Pulse 72”
We welcome you to visit with us, learn more about the improvements already achieved and in progress and find out why you should become part of the Aggie family.
