Overview: Bachelor of Science in Health Services

The Department of Population Health Management and Policy offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management degree that builds upon the great tradition of North Carolina A&T State University of producing outstanding graduates who assume roles in premier organizations nationally and internationally. This newly developed program will admit its first cohort of students in Fall 2020. The program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The curriculum provides students with the latest knowledge and core competencies in health systems, healthcare leadership and management, economics, healthcare technology, data systems, management and analysis, and health services research. Faculty with expertise in these areas will provide students with highly innovative and active teaching strategies. Students will work in one-to-one relationships with faculty and industry partners in internship opportunities.

Health Services Management Admission Requirements

• The general NC A&T requirements for admission

• A minimum high school GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0- point scale to be admitted into the major

• Current students who wish to change their major to Health Services Management must have an overall college GPA of 2.75

• Transfer students must have a grade of C (2.75) in Economics (ECON 200), and Statistics (MATH 224), within the past 5 years

Opportunities

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the projected growth rate for medical and health services managers in North Carolina is faster than the average for all occupations. Our Bachelor of Health Services Management program qualifies graduates to assume employment as practice and program managers, patient service managers, managing directors, healthcare representatives (medical device or pharmaceutical sales), health operations managers, medical/business office managers, medical coders, and entry-level management positions in a variety of other health-related organizations.

Application Process
Students can apply for admission any semester. NC A&T undergraduate applications may be submitted online at aggieadmissions.ncat.edu. Currently enrolled NC A&T students must receive permission from the Director of the Program for admission into the HSM major.
