Minimum Requirements:

  • Student must have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or greater
  • Student must have an attempted hour/earned hour completion rate of 80 percent: Unless the student is a double major or a transfer student, he/she should not have attempted more than 126 hours
  • Student must be enrolled full-time (undergrad-12 hrs, graduate-9 hrs) in the current session to be eligible for employment. (For summer sessions, if not enrolled in a summer session you must be registered for the upcoming fall semester).
  • Student must have a good judicial standing as determined by the University Student Conduct Office

Intramural Sports Official:

A student is encouraged to apply to be an intramural sports official if he/she possesses a love for sports and is willing to work and develop a skill that can be very rewarding. Students are hired and trained to officiate in the NC A&T Intramural Sports program. Officials are needed for flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and much more. Some knowledge of the sport is necessary to become an intramural sports official. Training sessions will be held to teach the necessary skills through classroom sessions and on-the field experiences that will enable officials to improve as the season progresses. Training clinics will be held for all the team sports in the weeks leading up to the season. Attendance is mandatory for all sessions per sport in order to be eligible to officiate that sport.

Intramural Sports Scorekeeper:

The Intramural Sports program also hires students to work as scorekeepers for various sports. This position is front -line staff and interacts daily with patrons and program participants. Applicants are expected to be personable, timely, organized, and have the ability to learn and implement IM policies. The Intramural Scorekeeper position will require skills including, but not limited to:

  • Keeping accurate score and time in accordance with the rules of the sport
  • Assisting in game preparation and teardown
  • Knowledge of the university's Intramural Sports Program policies
  • Attend in-house training for time/scorekeepers
  • Maintain score and time for various Intramural sports games throughout the year: basketball, 
    flag football, soccer, volleyball, and more
  • Being on time to the intramural games and being alert for the whole game
  • Time management should be enforced during the game

Intramural Sports Supervisor:

The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Intramural Supervisor position. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide leadership opportunities for student employees. The Intramural Supervisor position will require skills including, but not limited to:

  • Strong customer service, leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge base of the entire Intramural Sport Program, rules for each individual sport, the Intramural Handbook, Supervisors Handbook, and all programs offered.
  • Ability to resolve conflict situations.
  • Work well independently and with others while maintaining time management and dependability.
  • Computer experience.
  • Previous officiating knowledge required, Supervisor experience preferred.
  • Report directly to the Intramural Coordinator while assisting the Intramural Program Assistants with the administration of the Intramural Sports Program. Must have flexible work schedule to meet the programs needs.
  • Provide assistance with facility management, recruitment, training, supervising and evaluation of Officials and Supervisors.
  • Assist Coordinator and Director with the development and revision of program forms, maintenance of sport equipment inventory and review sport rules for accuracy.
  • Provide accurate information to Intramural participants in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate Intramural registration. Assure registration forms and payments are completed. Review and supervise team rosters.
  • Prepare league, Supervisor, Officials, post-season playoff schedules and end of season reports.
  • Coordinate and lead training clinics for Officials. Additional training may be necessary.
  • Assist the Program Assistant in completing employees’ hiring paperwork and payroll materials. Ensure hours worked are correct and recorded daily.
  • Be on-site and available periodically throughout the season, answer questions from Supervisors, Officials and Intramural participants.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures while ensure safety of Intramural participants by inspecting play area and equipment prior to games.
  • Report unsafe equipment and/or facilities to the Intramural Coordinator or Director immediately.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations and stop all unsafe actions.
  • Act with the best interest of the Intramural Program and the Department of Recreational Sports at all times.
  • Behave in a professional manner when on duty or participating in the Intramural Program.

Intramural Sports Program Assistant

The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Intramural Program Assistant position. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide a management and leadership opportunity for student employees. The Intramural Program Assistant position will require skills including, but not limited to:

  • Strong customer service, leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge of the Intramural Sport Program, rules for each individual sport, the Intramural Handbook, Supervisor Handbook, Officials Handbook and all programs offered.
  • Ability to resolve conflict situations and make decisions.
  • Work well independently and with others while maintaining time management and dependability.
  • Computer experience (Microsoft Office products).
  • Must have flexible work schedule to meet the programs needs.
  • Assist in the Intramural Registration process.
  • Report directly to the Intramural Coordinator and will assist in the daily aspects and administration of the Intramural Sports Program.
  • Address participant concerns, answer phones and questions from staff and students about the Intramural Sports Program.
  • Manage, inventory and supervise maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist the Coordinator with the following:
  • Recruiting, supervising, selecting, training, scheduling and evaluating program staff.
  • Planning, organizing, supervising and conducting leagues, tournaments, clinics and other offerings.
  • Developing, enforcing, and evaluating program policies and procedures.
  • Planning and hosting recognition events for student employees and program participants.
  • Complete and maintain payroll personnel forms.
  • Provide clerical support for the Coordinator and Supervisors (i.e. copying, filing, organizing calendar).
  • Communicate between the Supervisors and the Office Assistants to ensure the organization of completion and organization of daily paperwork (scorecards, timecards, nightly schedules, record scores, etc) for sport sites.
  • Develop and maintaining team roster ID check-in lists.
  • Visit Intramural Sport site on a daily basis.
  • Act with the best interest of the Intramural Program and the Department of Recreational Sports at all times.
  • Behave in a professional manner when on duty or participating in the Intramural Program.
