The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the North Carolina Child Care Resource and Referral network have launched a hotline to provide childcare options for essential workers who have limited childcare options due to COVID-19 closures. To find available childcare, call 888-600-1685 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. Additional information can be found on the NCDHHS website.

The Partnership Center of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) leads DHHS efforts to build and support partnerships with faith-based and community organizations in order to better serve individuals, families and communities in need. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

North Carolina Chamber

The NC Chamber is providing support and resources for North Carolina businesses, particularly focusing on small businesses. A resource guide for businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic is available at the NC Chamber website.

Unemployment Benefits

Individuals who are laid off, experiencing reduced work hours, or prevented from working due medical conditions caused by COVID-19 may be eligible for unemployment benefits. U.S. Small Business Administration

The Small Business Administration (SBA) offers low-interest disaster loans for businesses and homeowners impacted by COVID-19. For more information and to download loan applications, visit the SBA’s Disaster Assistance website. Businesses and individuals may also obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or 1-800-877-8339 (for the deaf and hearing impaired), or by emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

USDA Rural Development

Food and Nutrition Services

Current Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) recipients in North Carolina will receive an increase in the allotted amount of assistance for March and April 2020. For more information, visit the website for North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Food Pantries

Consider reaching out to food pantries for services. Be aware that the services provided and the hours of operation may have changed, so contact the pantry prior to visiting. To find your local food pantry, visit the food pantry section on the NC 2-1-1- website.

Meals for Students

Meals for school-age children have been arranged in some communities. Text 877877 with the message FOODNC to find local meal pick-up locations.

Some utility providers are suspending disconnections for nonpayment and waiving late payments. Contact your utility provider for more information regarding utility assistance.
