POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR
We have immediate openings for two postdoctoral researchers to participate in the Department of Defense sponsored Center of Excellence in Biotechnology (CoEB) at North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T). This is a non-faculty professional research position.
The primary goal of the CoEB at NC A&T is to develop technology for the detection and monitoring of chemical and biological agents using an integrated microengineered organ equivalent (MOE) system. We will partner with researchers at the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) and the Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center (DEVCOM SC) to develop an integrated, generalizable MOE-based microfluidics system capable of “smart” drug delivery and real-time monitoring of signaling dynamics, metabolomics profiles, and other key cellular parameters. The selected candidate will be appointed to a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting collaborative research with CoEB and WFIRM faculty
- Dissemination of research findings via publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations at professional meetings
- Monitoring graduate and undergraduate students training in NC A&T and WFIRM laboratories
- Assisting with Biotechnology Undergraduate Scholars program and other Center educational programs
Qualifications:
The selected Postdoctoral Scholar must have recently earned a Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Systems Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field. The Postdoctoral Scholar should have a demonstrated research focus in either synthesis of materials, cell biology, biochemistry, or analytical chemistry. A background in organoid systems, microfluidics, bioprinting, organ-on-a-chip, metabolism, metabolomics, metabolic biochemistry, cell signaling, pathway analysis, and computational modeling is preferred but not required. Likewise, previous experience working with cell culture and/or wet chemistry lab experience will be considered as a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of publication and/or presentation of research findings.
