Understanding our Assignment Process
First Year and New Transfer Students
First-year and new transfer students will participate in a hall/room self-selection process after each New Student Orientation session prior to the Fall Semester. Students will receive an email to access the housing portal to reserve their assignment after successfully attending New Student Orientation (NSO).
- Applications and room reservation times are prioritized by the submission date of the application and the date the student attends NSO.
- At the end of the second day of each NSO session, students will receive an email from Housing and Residence Life with a room reservation date, time and roommate group pin number. All students must have a completed housing application with payment to participate in the room selection process and select a roommate.
- If your assignment is not booked or completed by your reservation time, the housing staff will manually assign you after the last NSO session scheduled for the summer. Assignments will be based on availability. You will be able to access your assignment information in the Aggie Housing Portal.
- You can select one roommate from any NSO session as long as your fellow roommate has shared their roommate group pin number with you. (Roommate group pins are received during the application process)
- A Roommate Group Pin is a 5-6 digit pin number that we have created for all students that can be used during the hall/room self-selection process to select a roommate or a suitemate. The Roommate Group Pin is used to verify that a student has given permission to be pulled in as a roommate by another student.
