Frequently Asked Questions
The student's advisor for the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is selected based on the following:
- Your classification (Sophomore, Junior or Senior)*
- Your Area of Concentration (MMJR, MMPR, PBRL)
- The first letter of your last name *All freshman students should contact Tonia Hamilton, Academic Advisor, Center for Academic Excellence, College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences at tllewis1@ncat.edu. Emails will be responded to in the order they are received.
A current NC A&T student can be admitted into the JOMC department with a minimum 2.5 GPA and completion of the Change of Major form. This form can be obtained electronically by logging into Aggie Hub and selecting forms. If you do not locate it and need it emailed, please contact a department's Administrative Assistant. For JOMC, email smphillips@ncat.edu
Once the form is completed and signed, it should be sent electronically to the current department chair, Interim Dept Chair Dr. Kamalipour, ykamalip@ncat.edu
Yes. The Journalism and Mass Communication (JOMC) program has three areas of concentrations: Mass Media Production, Multimedia Journalism, and Public Relations. Following the curriculum guide based on concentration selection, ensures proper advisement.
Current JOMC students, if your area of concentration is listed incorrectly in Aggie Access, please send an email to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@ncat.edu (before the semester begins.)
Current JOMC students, wanting to change your area of concentration or your major, must fill out the university's Change of Major form. Please note: on the most recent forms, concentration is listed. Please email smphillips@ncat.edu if you need the 4 digit codes for JOMC. Other codes can be obtained in the respective department office.
Please review cfnc.org first and then began the application for readmission at ncat.edu. Your APA request can be submitted to Dr. Kamalipour at ykamalip@ncat.edu .You will receive and audit and a list of classes to take for the next semester(s).
