The Intern for Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) will assist the ANR Extension Agent in (1) providing one-on-one on the farm assistance to persons engaged in small scale agriculture, and (2) assist the small part-time and limited-resource farmers in identifying and solving their home, farm and community problems. The area of emphasis will include, but will not be limited to; animal science, horticulture, farm management, natural resources and general activities designed to strengthen and stabilize the family farm.
The Intern will assist the Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development with planning, executing and evaluating effective and comprehensive 4-H programs that meet the needs of the county’s limited resource youth from ages 5-19, in accordance with the mission and priorities established by the National 4-H Council and in alignment with the mission and vision of the Cooperative Extension Program at NC A&T. The Intern will assist the Extension Agent with (1) collaborating with county and community based organizations to deliver programs and recruit program participants; (2) determining program needs and priorities by conducting needs assessments; (3) organizing, communicating, and delivering course materials in formal and informal instructional settings, including organized 4-H clubs, special interest youth programs, 4-H projects, after-school programs, summer day camp programs, and school enrichment programs, and (4) evaluating data collected from multiple sources including advisory committee members, county residents and program participants, to determine program impacts. Programs focus on developing leadership and workforce skills in youth, including an extensive STEM element, through established delivery modes.

The Intern will assist the Community and Rural Development (CRD) Extension Agent with planning, executing, and evaluating effective and comprehensive community resource development programs that meet the needs of the county’s limited resource population and align with the mission and vision of the Cooperative Extension Program at NC A&T. Primary programming areas include leadership development for community leaders; training clients to access resources needed to take action as informed citizens in their communities; community problem evaluation and decision making, and training in public engagement and facilitation.

The Intern will assist the Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Science (FCS) with planning, executing and evaluating effective and comprehensive family and consumer sciences programs that meet the needs of the county’s limited resource population and align with the mission and vision of the Cooperative Extension Program at NC A&T. Programs include non-formal education and training in human development, resource management, and supplemental nutrition assistance with targeted audiences. The Intern will assist the Extension Agent with organizing, communicating, and delivering course materials in formal and informal instructional settings; collaborating with county and community based organizations to deliver programs and recruit program participants; determining program needs and prioritizing by conducting needs assessments; and evaluating data collected from multiple sources including advisory committee members, county residents and program participants.
