Analytical Services Laboratory
The Analytical Services Laboratory, housed in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, is committed to providing high-quality analytical testing services to the scientific community inside and outside N.C. A&T. We coordinate with our clients in designing analytical projects and facilitating work through the laboratory. The ASL will also work with the clients for method development and various scientific reporting requirements.
Standard practice includes the analysis of method blanks, duplicate samples, matrix or blank spiked samples, and duplicate spiked samples, with each batch of samples processed through the laboratory. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which detail the procedures of all the operations of our laboratory, are also available upon request.
For projects requiring special handling/expedition and approaching deadlines, please consult the lab director. Also, for any questions related to your analytical data and status of the samples, please email the lab.
Scope of Services
The Service Center will primarily provide the following four analytical services:
- Elemental Analysis of solid and liquid matrices by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES).
- Elemental Analysis of solid and liquid organic compounds by Carbon Hydrogen Nitrogen (CHN) analyzer
- Chromatographic separation and analysis of liquid samples by Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) and mass spectrometry (MS)
- Chromatographic separation and analysis of solid (thermally stable) and liquid samples by Gas Chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (MS)
Sample Submission Instructions
Sample receiving hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any samples received after 4 p.m. will be checked in on that day, but turnaround time will be determined on the next business day. The sample submission instructions are different for each kind of service.
Please review the Sample Submission Guidelines, then fill out and return the form below following the directions on the form. We will contact you as to next steps.
