Undergraduate International Admissions
North Carolina A&T State University welcomes students from around the globe. We believe that having students who represent different cultures is a wonderful way to bring different points of view to our community and give our students a broader perspective as they get their education. At the same time, we offer international students an opportunity to experience the American way of life while earning a degree that will prepare them to succeed in their chosen field.

- All applicants must prove proof of high school completion.
- If you attended school outside of the United States, you must have your international transcript evaluated by one of the Credential Evaluation Services: WES (World Educational Services), Educational Perspectives, International Education Evaluations (IEE), Josef Silny & Associates Inc., SPANTRAN and National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
- All post-secondary education coursework must have a course-by-course evaluation.
- Proof of English Proficiency
- Official SAT reading score of 400 or higher

Note: Students who reside in a country that have English as their official language and language of instruction do not have to provide proof of English proficiency. Click here for a list of approved countries.

International Student Requirements
International students must meet all criteria for unconditional acceptance into a degree program of study at North Carolina A&T and provide documented proof of ability to meet financial responsibilities associated with enrollment and living expenses. For assistance with these requirements, contact the Office of International Affairs at (336) 334-7551.
- The Financial Guarantee Form must be completed and signed by both the sponsor and the prospective student. Return pages 3 and 4 of the form along with all required bank certified documents or documentation confirming sponsorship, university funding, or any combination of support in the minimum amount of $23,000 (USD).
- Complete, sign and return the International Student Data Form.
- Provide a photocopy of the identification page(s) in your passport or official document showing the correct name combination you will be using inside the United States and at the university.
- If you are currently in F-1 or J-1 status inside the United States provide the OIA with documents confirming your current legal status to include the Certificate of Eligibility (I-20/DS-2019), the I-94 (front and back), a valid passport and U.S. visa stamp pages, etc. You must complete the SEVIS transfer process. The Transfer Clearance Form will be provided to you once you have been admitted to the university and submit all required documents requested by the OIA. You may contact the OIA by phone or e-mail to obtain additional information regarding transfer clearance.
- If you hold an immigrant status or you are in another current legal status with education benefits other than F-1 or J-1, please confirm your legal status by providing a copy of your legal document(s) before you enroll.
If it appears that you cannot complete the requirements for admission and enrollment by the semester for which you have applied, you may wish to consider deferring your enrollment eligibility to the next full semester. Please contact the appropriate Admissions office for details regarding deferment requests.
Special Note: Form issuance, visa application and entry to the United States as well as reporting to the school after arrival now require electronic registration in the Student Exchange Visitor Information System maintained by USCIS. Therefore students must enter the United States before the last day of class registration of the enrollment semester. Students entering or attempting to enter the country on an I-20 / DS-2019 issued for a begin date in conjunction with approved academic semesters after the last date for approved registration will automatically be out of status and may be required to apply for reinstatement and/or face immediate deportation.

The Office of International Affairs reserves the right to recommend that international applicants request to defer enrollment to the next full semester if an I-20 / DS-2019 cannot be issued for the existing acceptance date.
