Special Circumstance
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships understands this past year may have been difficult for some families due to COVID-19. Our records indicate you completed a 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have been awarded for the 2021-2022 academic year. The FAFSA used your, and your parent’s (if dependent) 2019 federal tax and household information. If your family’s circumstances have changed, you may submit the 2021-2022 Special Circumstance Appeal Form. The Appeal form must be completed in full and submitted with supporting documents. Appeal Forms submitted without supporting documents will be automatically denied.
Circumstances eligible to Appeal:
- A reduction in income.
- Divorce or separation of parents after signing the 2021-2022 FAFSA.
- Death of parent, or spouse after completing the 2021-2022 FAFSA.
- Other circumstances which have affected your or your parent’s income
Please note that Special Circumstance adjustments are made on a case-by-case basis and do not guarantee an increase in financial aid.
You are encouraged to periodically review your email for additional information requested by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Please allow approximately three to four weeks for your appeal to be reviewed and a decision rendered. The review process may take longer depending on the number of requests received. You will be notified of the action taken via email to your University email once your form is reviewed.
