Degree Offered: M.S.
The Master of Science in Data Analytics program, educates students in Data Analytics and prepares them for careers in this area of national need. The program is available in online and on-campus modalities. The M.S. in Data Analytics program aims to:
- Help students develop a comprehensive understanding and mastery of the state-of-the-art Data analytics techniques.
- Prepare students to practice data-driven problem analysis, information retrieval and decision-making.
- Give students practical, hands-on experience with statistical programming languages, data analysis and visualization tools through coursework and project-based learning experiences.
Graduates of the program will acquire the following essential data analytics skills:
- Statistical inference and modeling
- R, Python, Tableau and/or SQL programming
- Data extraction, processing and wrangling
- Data mining and machine learning algorithms
- Big data analytics
- Data visualization and communications.
This skill set will make the graduates of program effective predictive modelers, engaging team players, and persuasive communicators, help them advance their professional goals, and improve and enhance their marketability.

Applicants for the M.S. in Data Analytics program must have adequate background in statistics, computer programming and problem solving (at least one course in probability and statistics and at least one course in algorithmic problem-solving using a data analysis and visualization programming language such as Python, R or MATLAB). If an applicant fails to meet the prerequisite course requirements, the student will be required to take one or two courses to fulfill the prerequisite course requirements with a grade of B or higher.
