Preparing Future Leaders: NCA&T and UNCG Partnership for Graduate Student Professional Development

The Graduate Schools of UNCG and N.C. A&T, in partnership, have established the Preparing Future Leaders (PFL) program as a strong foundation for graduate student professional development and career preparation. The program is designed to provide valuable, transferable skills and knowledge that will prepare currently enrolled, degree-seeking graduate students, to be successful and dynamic leaders in their chosen disciplines and careers as they complete their degree.

Preparing Future Minority Faculty (PUFF) Program

The Preparing Future Minority Faculty (PUFF) Program provides NC A&T Ph.D. students with structured mentoring, professional development, and teaching experiences to promote success in a future career as a faculty member. For more information, see Preparing Future Minority Faculty.

NSF Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP-NC Project)

North Carolina A&T, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte are collaborating to develop, implement and study the AGEP North Carolina Alliance model for creating institutional, department-level and faculty change to promote historically underrepresented minority U.S. citizens who are completing their STEM doctoral degrees and progressing into faculty positions. The AGEP-NC Student Leadership Council (SLC) provides doctoral students an opportunity to contribute to the success of the effort while gaining valuable leadership and STEM education research experience. The SLC consists of two doctoral students from N.C. A&T (along with students from N.C. State University and UNC-Charlotte) who serve a one-year term and provide input to the AGEP-NC Project Senior Leadership on the needs of students in their disciplines and campuses.

Self-Guided Modules for Graduate Students

The following modules are self-guided multimedia lessons that address key aspects of the graduate student experience. To get the most out of each module, we recommend following it through from start to finish, but you can also jump directly to a specific section. Each module was developed by a North Carolina A&T State University faculty member—if you have any questions about the content or would like more information, please feel free to contact the faculty member directly (information provided within each module). For additional general information or support, please contact Dr. Shea Bigsby, Interim Assistant Dean of The Graduate College, at (336) 285-2377 or sbigsby@ncat.edu
