Student Organizations
- Food and Nutritional Sciences Club – Purpose is to educate students and the surrounding community about the importance of nutrition and the relationship between nutrition and good health. Activities include demonstrations, health fairs, guest speakers and other educational outreach activities. Membership in this organization is open to all food and nutritional sciences majors.
- Family and Consumer Sciences Club – The FCS Club is a pre-professional organization that offers students opportunities for leadership, friendship and career exploration. The club sponsors university activities, community projects, and guest speakers at club meetings. The club serves as an exciting springboard for professional involvement.
- Kappa Omicron Nu – A national honor society in the department that is open to all students and professionals who qualify. The mission of KON is to empower leaders through scholarship, research and leadership activities. This organization prepares scholars and researchers for the 21st century.
- Fashion X-Cetera – This organization exposes fashion merchandising and design majors to fashion experiences outside the classroom. Leadership skills are promoted by organizing and implementing community service activities that have a fashion and/or merchandising emphasis, such as a recent project in which members sewed and distributed colorful hoodies for youngsters in the community. Students are exposed to career options in the fashion industry through field trips, guest speakers at meetings, and mentoring opportunities provided by graduates.
