Administrative Assessment
Administrative assessment is intended to help units review, analyze, and improve support services provided to the campus. The assessment process is vital to the effectiveness of the university as it aids units in determining how well they are functioning. In addition, assessment results contribute to planning and progress toward our strategic plan - A&T Preeminence: Taking the Momentum to 2023 and fulfillment of A&T’s mission. The ultimate goal of assessment is continuous improvement to ensure students receive the best experience and education possible. Administrative assessment is also an essential component of the university’s regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC outlines expectations for institutions, and specifically administrative units as follows:
“The institution engages in ongoing, comprehensive, and integrated research-based planning and evaluation processes that (a) focus on institutional quality and effectiveness and (b) incorporate a systematic review of institutional goals and outcomes consistent with its mission.” (Institutional planning) - SACSCOC Principle 7.1
“The institution identifies expected outcomes of its administrative support services and demonstrates the extent to which the outcomes are achieved.” (Administrative effectiveness) - SACSCOC Principle 7.3
“The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of seeking improvement based on analysis of the results for academic and student services that support student success.” (Student outcomes: academic and student services) - SACSCOC Principle 8.2.c
The Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OSPIE) has oversight of the assessment process and compliance issues related to institutional effectiveness.
