Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute
North Carolina A&T State University is a member institution of the 47 publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) supported by The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). NC A&T takes great pride in being one of the largest supporters of TMCF. TMCF is named for the U.S. Supreme Court’s first African-American Justice, Thurgood Marshall. Established in 1987, TMCF supports and represents nearly 300,000 students at its member schools that include medical schools and law schools.
The Leadership Institute is a power-packed 4-day conference that prepares students to compete in today’s very competitive global workforce. A key component is the Recruitment Fair where Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and graduate program representatives offer jobs, internships, and continuing education opportunities for student participants.
The award-winning Leadership Institute is a TMCF national program intended to develop students’ leadership skills, provide organizations access to a talented and diverse student population, and help students make connections that lead to careers. Students must apply to attend the Leadership Institute and undergo a rigorous interview process before being selected to participate. This conference is an invitation-only event and not open to the public.
Focusing on the mission and vision of TMCF, we strive to:
- Increase access, retention, and graduation rates of students.
- Identify and prepare students attending member schools who have significant leadership potential.
- Create a pipeline for employers to access highly-qualified member-school students and alumni.
