Tuition and Fees for International Students
International and Exchange Students are required to pay the out-of-state tuition rate.
Students in F-1 or J-1 nonimmigrant visa status must pay the out-of-state tuition rate. If you are currently in the United States in another nonimmigrant visa category and you wish to change to F-1 status, please be advised that you will be charged the out-of-state tuition rate as an F-1 student. This will happen regardless of how long you have lived in North Carolina in your current, non F-1 visa category.
In order to be eligible for the in-state tuition rate, the student must meet residency criteria for tuition purposes. Eligibility is determined by the Admissions Office. Contact Undergraduate Admissions directly for more information on residency for tuition purposes. Graduate Students should visit the Graduate Admissions webpage for further information and to download the application.
An international student must show a minimum of $35,866.00 (undergraduate) or $37,912.00 (graduate) USD in financial support. Many international students take courses throughout the calendar year to complete their programs more quickly. It is important to take into account the total cost in planning for financial support (summer session enrollment is an additional cost).
