Registration

Registration Resources

Registering for classes is an integral part of your academic journey.  Below are a few helpful links that will aid you in the registration process.

Make sure you have your registration (or alternate) PIN.

Be sure you know the classes and CRNs (Course Reference Number) you need to register for after talking with your advisor.  There may be several sections of the same course that you have been advised to take, and then you will need to decide which section fits your schedule better.

Know when your registration window is open.  You will receive email notification to your Aggies email address regarding when registration is opening and closing. You can also see your registration timeframe in Aggie Access.

Make sure you do not have any holds on your record that would prevent your registration.  There are different types of holds (e.g., fines, health records, final transcripts) that need to be cleared for the registration system to work for you.  You can see holds in your Aggie Access Online record.

Step 1

Open www.ncat.edu. Select MENU in the top right corner, click the Aggie Access Online link (located under Quicklinks). You may also go directly to the site at http://aggieaccess.ncat.edu

Step 2

Enter your OneID (your Aggie email address up to the @) and your password (the password you use to log in to your Aggie email account and campus networks). Click 'Sign In'.

Step 3

Once inside Aggie Access, click the STUDENT tab.

Step 4

Select REGISTRATION. We recommend that you check your registration status before proceeding.

Enter the Advising PIN you received from your department when you met for advising.  If you did not receive your Advising PIN, contact your advisor/department.

Step 5

Select ‘SELECT TERM’.

Step 6

From the drop down box, select the term you are registering for.

Step 7

This registration form is the place to register and add/drop classes using the CRN (Course Reference Number).

ADD/DROP Classes

Use the ADD CLASS SECTION WORKSHEET to register for classes by entering the CRN (Course Reference Number).

To drop a class, select the DROP action in the ACTION FIELD. When ADD/DROP is complete, click the SUBMIT button. Once submitted, the only confirmation you will get will be a refreshed updated screen.

A common error in using the ADD CLASS dialog box is in the use of COURSE ID’s. (Example: 10024 PHYS 225 001 College Physics I; the CRN is the five (5) digit number on the left. To see your schedule with times and rooms, select ‘STUDENT SCHEDULE’

Very Important:

Be sure to log off of Aggie Access by selecting the ‘EXIT’ button in the upper right hand corner of the page. If you just walk away, or use the back browser button, the session will still be live. PROTECT YOURSELF and LOG OFF.

Each course/section has a specified enrollment limit. When enrollment in a course section reaches the limit, it is considered 'closed' and no further enrollments will be processed. Students wishing to enroll in a specific course/section which has been closed may contact the Department Chairperson or the Instructor of the course that has been closed and ask for special permission. The department will enroll the student in the course if permission has been granted. Please note that closed courses do not appear on Aggie Access.

Course Load

According to Administrative Memorandum - Number 345, all full-time undergraduate students are expected to comply with the Board's 1993 Plan to Improve Graduation Rates by enrolling in an average of at least 15 semester hours per term in order to graduate in four years.  Since the majority of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's academic programs require 128 semester hours, to complete degree program in eight semesters, requires student to complete an average of 16 hours per semester or complete 32 semester hours in an academic year.

Undergraduate students enrolled in twelve (12) or more semester hours are designated as full-time students and must pay full tuition and fees.  Full-time students usually carry 15 to 18 semester hours.  To enroll in more than 18 semester hours, students must get approval from the department head and dean.

The maximum course load that students who are on academic probation may carry is 15 semester hours.  The maximum course load for a student with a GPA less than 3.00 is 18 hours.  The maximum course load for a student with a GPA above 3.00 is 21 hours.

Auditing a Class

Students who intend to register for a course for which they do not want to earn credit may register as an audit student by picking up the Audit Registration Form from the Office of the Registrar.  He or she must register officially for the course and pay the University Cashier.  Attendance, preparation, and participation in the classroom discussion and  laboratory exercises shall be at the discretion of the instructor.

A student who audits courses is not required to take examinations and tests and he or she receives no credit.  An auditor may not change his or her registration from audit to credit or from credit to audit after the end of the late registration process.

Official Registration

Registration is a time designated each semester to allow the students and his or her advisor to review the student's records and plan a course of study for the next semester. The student should discuss academic problems with the advisor during this time. Registration helps to ensure that the courses requested on the registered schedule will be available to the student the following semester. Any student who is enrolled in the University during the registration period is expected to register for the next semester during the period designated for this purpose.

In order for a student to receive credit for a course, he or she must be properly registered in that course. This means that the student must have gone through the registration procedures as outlined by the University. Further, the student must have paid all required tuition and fees.

Late Registration

A student is expected to complete enrollment (including the payment of all required fees) on the dates listed on the Academic Calendar. The payment of fees is part of the registration process. No student is eligible to attend classes until the required fees have been paid.

A student who fails to complete registration during the scheduled dates will be required to pay a late registration fee of $50.00 during the late registration period that the bill is not validated.

A course which is designed as a prerequisite to another course indicates that the prerequisite is required before taking the next course.  Prerequisites are indicated in the online Undergraduate Bulletin.  Students may pre-register for a course that required a prerequisite if the student is enrolled in the prerequisite course at the time of early registration.  Once the final grade has been submitted for the course and the student has not passed the prerequisite, the course will be dropped from the students' schedule.

A co-requisite course is a specific course that must be taken simultaneously with another course.  Prerequisite and co-requisite courses are indicated for any course offered at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University on the online catalog.  Consortium students must also adhere to the catalog for the prerequisite and co-requisite checking.

  1. Alternate PIN Numbers - All NC A&T students must obtain their Alternate PIN number from their advisor during the Advisement and Registration Week.
  2. Plan your schedule using the Aggie Access Web For Students. You need to have ready your complete course information including the 5 course reference numbers (CRNs) for all courses. Be sure to list alternate CRN in the event your first choice is filled.
  3. Registration Methods - Aggie Access - go to www.ncat.edu and click on Menu (top right corner), then click on Aggie Access Online under "Quicklinks."

Follow Aggie Access User Guide for more information on using Aggie Access to register.

  4. Review Printed Schedule - Your schedule will be located at the bottom of your school bill. You may also obtain a printed copy from Aggie Access. It is your responsibility to review this information and contact the Office of the Registrar if there are any errors or corrections. If you process changes after the bills have been printed, you should obtain an updated copy of your schedule.
  5. Payment of Fees (Validation) - You will be billed by the Treasurer's Office for tuition, room and board and various other university charges. It is your responsibility to ensure the Office of the Registrar has a correct mailing address for you. Failure to receive a billing statement will not exempt you from the late fee. You must register early to receive a billing statement. If you fail to complete validation (complete payment of the bill), your classes will be cancelled.

Note: Students are responsible for ensuring that they are on the official class roster for all courses for which they have registered. YOU ARE NOT VALIDATED IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE CLASS ROSTER. If you are not listed on the roster it is your responsibility to find out why in the Office of the Registrar.

To be validated at North Carolina A&T State University, you must complete the following:

1. COURSE SELECTION
2. PAYMENT (total required for tuition, fees and other charges)

If you complete only one part, either course selection or pay less than the amount required at the time, please understand that you are NOT VALIDATED. Your name will not appear on the official class roster and you are not permitted to attend classes, live in University housing or otherwise, utilize University facilities. Receiving an award letter from Financial Aid, paying partial payment on your account or receiving an award letter for funds does not mean you are enrolled and validated.
